Comparison : Shimm Shimma

Today I have my first comparison post of the week (another coming on Friday). I love looking at these posts and as my collection grows I find that I have several colours that are similar but not the same. (As we all know. heh.)

The first match-up is Zoya Jem and Chanel Taboo. Someone mentioned recently that Jem was a dupe for Taboo and, since I have both, I thought I'd put that to the test. From the first brush stroke you can tell that these two aren't dupes - the base colours are completely different; Zoya is purple and Chanel is navy. The shimmer in Jem is more pronounced on the nail but the glitter particles are also larger than Chanel. Both are gorgeous and I'm glad I own both. Photos show two coats of each polish with no top coat.

Next up is a duo I've wanted to compare since I received my October What's In-die Box. Unfortunately, both of these are hard to find but I thought I'd post it anyway. At first glance I thought that Lilypad Lacquer Queen of Halloween was a dupe for Enchanted Polish Mr. Burgundy but, as you can see in the swatch photos, they are really close but not dupes. The base of the Lilypad is more purple whereas the EP definitely has a burgundy base. The holo on both is very similar but the EP has slightly more bend. Again, I'm happy (and lucky) to own both. Photos show two coats of each polish with no top coat.

Any comparison requests? Let me know and I'll see what I have in my stash.

NB: Thoughts on the darker, larger watermark?

  1. If you find a dupe for Mr. Burgundy that's easily obtainable, I'd love you forever! I want it but cannot bring myself to pay what people are asking for it.

I actually like this watermark, too. I think I'd prefer this size, but with the color matched to the polish. That would look great!

    1. It's a beauty isn't it? I was lucky enough to receive it from a dear friend and truly cherish it.

  2. Great post! I love comparisons. If you ever find a dupe for Deborah Lippmann Mermaid Dream, let me know!

    1. Revlon Parfumerie Wintermint! I don't have the DL so I can't compare and I think the Revlon is less teal but pretty close. :) http://www.thedailyvarnish.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Revlon-Wintermint1.jpg
